The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA)
had requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to
increase the price of electricity by 24 paisa per unit as part of the monthly
fuel adjustment.
During the hearing, the CPPA officials took the position that 10 billion 37 crore 72 lakh units of electricity were generated in October. The upfront cost was Rs 9.17 while the cost of generating electricity was Rs 9.41. Therefore, in terms of monthly fuel adjustment, the electricity price should be charged 24 paisa more per unit from the consumers.
