On the request to increase the Price of Electricity, NEPRA made the Electricity Cheaper

In front of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, the Central Power Purchasing Agency had to be taken.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the price of electricity by 24 paisa per unit as part of the monthly fuel adjustment.A hearing was held on the request of CCPA under the chairmanship of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Chairman Taseef H. Farooqui.

During the hearing, the CPPA officials took the position that 10 billion 37 crore 72 lakh units of electricity were generated in October. The upfront cost was Rs 9.17 while the cost of generating electricity was Rs 9.41. Therefore, in terms of monthly fuel adjustment, the electricity price should be charged 24 paisa more per unit from the consumers.


The Central Power Purchasing Agency had to be taken over by NEPRA, the CPPA officials could not satisfy NEPRA during the hearing, and as a result, NEPRA gave relief to the public on the request to increase the price of electricity.
